
On the 27th May 2011, Varandas de Sousa, S.A. was one of the enterprises awarded with the PNIA, promoted by Indústria e Ambiente magazine and by the European Environmental Press (European association made of 17 technical magazines regarding environmental issues). With this award, Varandas de Sousa, S.A. was recognised by its investment and bet that started three years ago: to transport and reuse, ecologically, the substrate for the mushroom agricultural production. According to Artur Sousa, the chairman, this prize means, also, the recognition of the technical team commitment, allowing, also, to prove the innovation capacity of the Portuguese enterprise, namely, abroad.

The article, from the 10th April 2011 edition of this newspaper, compared 8 corporate initiatives to the conquerors from the Portugal's Age of Discovery, since these ones are successful and leadership examples, not only on the national markets, but also abroad. SOUSACAMP GROUP has a distinguished position in the agri-food sector, not only because it holds 80% of the mushroom national market, but also because is building the large European production unit. This article also underlines the endeavour characteristics of Artur Sousa, the founder and the chairman.
Having in mind the promotion of national products, Clube de Produtores SONAE, by means of its magazine, "O melhor de Portugal", wrote an article, on the 5th March edition, about mushrooms, detaching three kinds produced and/or traded by SOUSACAMP GROUP. The same article also enlightened the healthy properties of the mushrooms. Artur Sousa, the chairman, and Varandas de Sousa, S.A., considered the Iberian leader company in the market of fresh mushrooms, were also underlined.
Diário Económico (supplement PME Líder 2011) presented Sousacamp Group as a case-study, in an article where were focused three aspects that underlines the singularity of the Group:
• This company started and maintains its head office in a small village at the north of the country (with all the emerging vicissitudes, but remarkable when of the foundation back in 1989);
• The permanent investment in innovation and creativity, technology, investigation and training of human resources, essential to anticipate all the necessary changes;
• The significant growth of the production capacity, invoicing and representation at the foreign markets. This article proves that innovation is a characteristic of the Group.
